Caymus Vineyards and the Wagner Family of Wines shined at Akbar Marina del Rey wine dinner
It was a family affair, sort of. Guests at this wine dinner were treated to 2 Caymus wines and 2 wines from the Wagner’s Family of Wines: Mer Soleil and Red Schooner.
Most popular wine of the evening was the 2018 Caymus-Suisun Petite Sirah. Capping off the night with this wine was the perfect conclusion to a great evening. Looking for a wine that is great now and will continue that way for the next 7-10 years? Look no further!
Wine and Food Pairing highlights
The best pairing of the night was a tossup. The 2019 Mer Soleil Reserve Chardonnay was a perfect texture and flavor match for Akbar‘s Kerala Prawns. The Chard worked very well with the mild spiciness of the shrimp dish and flavors were singing together. The other great pairing was the 2019 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon with the Ground Beef Kabob. The Cab was great on its own but seemed to go to a higher level (if that is possible) when tasted in concert with this dish. Overall, Chef Avi did a fine job pairing these food-friendly wines with his gourmet Indian cuisine.
