SUMMARY:Duckhorn Vineyards Wine Tasting Dinner at Akbar\, Marina del Rey
DESCRIPTION:Duckhorn’s history spans 45 years.  You might call owner Dan Duckhorn one of the Napa pioneers\, not because his was the first winery (he lost that race by over 100 years!)\, but rather due to the fact that he was among the first to focus on the production of world-class  Napa Valley Merlot-a mere stepchild to the Cabs that Napa was already famous for.  Dan was convinced it could be done and put his passion and energy into his first harvest (1978).  The rest\, shall we say\, is history. In fact\, he was dubbed “Mr. Merlot” by the NY Times-something he is very proud of.  Duckhorn wines are made under the guidance of Winemaker Renée Ary.  She is only the 4th winemaker in the winery’s 40+ year history.  A Welcome Reception bubbly will be followed by a 3-course meal\, pairing the gourmet Indian cuisine of owner/chef Avinash Kapoor with 4 outstanding Duckhorn wines.  All the wines will be available for purchase at special prices even if you are not able to attend the dinner (contact Bart@GourmetWineGetaways.com for further information). Gourmet Wine Getaways’ Peter Kerr will discuss Duckhorn’s history & explore these wine & food pairings. Join us under the stars (dress warmly) in Akbar’s new outdoor patio section for a rare opportunity to enjoy these highly rated & sought after wines.  It’s our first in-person wine dinner in 16 months so we hope you can be a part of it.
