Il Molino di Grace Wines found a happy home at Orto Santa Monica

Owner Daniel Grace joined us from Italy to make this an extra special night of wonderful wines and food pairings.

Best Wine

Most popular wine of the evening was the 2015 Il Molino di Grace Chianti Classico SoloSangiovese.  A balance of flavors, nose and food-friendliness got everyone’s attention. It was attractively priced to encourage you to make it part of your wine collection.

Wine and Food Pairing highlights

The best pairing of the night was the 2013 Gran Selezione Il Margone paired with a delicious Paccheri al Ragu d’Anatra (large tube pasta with duck ragout- pictured in this post).  Already 7 years old, it was slightly mellow but gave you no doubt that that it could easily stay at its optimum  point for 5-7 more years.  The wine tasted great as did the food, but when enjoyed in sequence, a symbiosis occurred that had everyone smiling.   Overall, Chef Edin Marroquin and his culinary team did a fine job pairing these food-friendly wines with their gourmet Italian cuisine.  We will be back at Orto later in the year with another opportunity to let you sample their outstanding cuisine.
