Duckhorn Wines are a big hit at Kapoor’s Akbar wine dinner

Dan Duckhorn would have been proud, had he been in attendance.  At Kapoor’s Akbar, Owner/Chef Avinash Kapoor created a wonderful menu that showcased his cuisine as part of the 4 wine/food pairings. This was the restaurant’s first wine tasting dinner and judging by the full house, there is plenty of demand for another…and then another. DTLA now has an affordable, gourmet Indian restuarant just minutes from the Music Center, the Broad and the Disney Concert Hall.  Consider this a great place for a fine meal before you attend a concert or play at one of these venues. Or, just stop by when you are in the City and want a fantastic dinning experience.

Best Wine

Most popular wine of the evening was the 2014 Duckhorn Merlot.  This show-stopper had everyone talking and loving its balance, texture and potential for long aging.

Wine and Food Pairing highlights

The best pairing of the night was a tossup.  Chef Avi’s Shahi Lamb paired beautifully with the ’14 Duckhorn Merlot and, not to be out done, the ’15 Duckhorn Napa Valley Cab with the Beef Dopiaza got a lot of nods and happy faces.  Overall, Chef Avi did a fine job pairing these food-friendly wines with his gourmet Indian cuisine.
